Looking Like Orlando
Well, still single. I might turn gay, I mean hey i'm camp anyway. Think i'd rather be gay and single than straight and single, not cos I like men or owt, but cos the lack of gay men in worcester would be a better excuse to be single than, well there are a lot of single girls but none of them match my standards. Or I don't match the one single standard of all girls here, which is that I must look like Orlando Bloom and have his wallet because personality doesn't count for anything these days. Yes worcester is a very shallow place, apart from being a deep pile of shit.

Feeling Sickly
Nothing on TV last night so I thought I would treat my sickly self and buy me one of those carmel cakes at the store and rent a movie. We picked out Troy because oldest dd is huge fan of Orlando Bloom. At the check out counter, clerk said we still hadn’t returned Open Water. My head was already exploding with a huge headache and all I wanted to do was lie down on the ground and go to sleep. Hubby had dropped off video, so I’m thinking to what shop??? This video shop rents movies really cheap, .87 cents week nights and $1.87 weekends. But have a huge late fee. $2.50 a day. We rented this movie last weekend, so I’m picturing a huge late fee. Feeling upset, I veto the carmel cake and head straight for home to explode on hubby!

'Lord': What a movie
But it is the actors and acting that keeps us in our seats during the movie and crying at the end. Viggo Mortensen is one of the best action heroes in years. His Aragon is fierce, brooding, reluctant, proud and honorable. Orlando Bloom is fierce, gentle and true as the elf. Ian McKellen, as Gandalf, is fierce, wise and foolish, father and friend. Eowyn (Miranda Otto) finally gets to show her mettle, as do the hobbits Pippin (Billy Boyd) and Merry (Dominic Monaghan), and the result is a real crowd-pleaser. And Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, as Frodo and Sam, the Bearer of the Heavy Burden and his best friend, forge a wonderful relationship.

Review: Troy
With actors like Brad Pitt (Achilles), Eric Bana (Hector), Orlando Bloom (Paris), Brian Cox (Agamemnon), Peter O’Toole (Priam, the king of Troy), and Sean Bean (Odysseus), this was to be a major movie epic. And in some ways is, though mostly because of it’s writer (Homer that is, not the scriptwriters). I think it lacked the drama it was supposed to, because we know the story. Not only do most know about Helen, but Achilles and the Trojan Horse.

Review: Kingdom Of Heaven
That is why I thought the movie the Kingdom of Heaven was a movie worth watching for the storyline. A tale of 12th Century Blacksmith who through a twist of fate becomes the Defender of Jeresulem at the time of the Crusades; the story lies comfortably on the narrow shoulders of the the young and boyish Orlando Bloom. Ridley Scott did not want this movie to be about stars.

Review: Kingdom of Heaven
After having seen the disappointing Troy, I had low expectations of Kingdom of Heaven and was hoping that sitting through this nearly two and half hour epic would at least be bearable. Also, I was hoping for a stronger “manlier” performance by Orlando Bloom. It is basically a story of a religious war (namely the Crusades) and no doubt about it the blood and gore is sickening. Having said that, the story is fair and paints the two sides (Christians and Muslims) evenly with good and bad men on both sides.

Kingdom of Heaven: The Modern Epic
The modern age of the cinematic epic began with Braveheart's mix of old-fashioned, widescreen, guts-and-glory filmmaking (well, the guts part, anyway) and modern morals and messages. Braveheart begat Gladiator, which added a light frosting of computer-generated effects to help the combination of bleeding-heart ideas and blood-spilling action go down. Now, Gladiator director Ridley Scott is back in modern epic territory with Kingdom of Heaven — yet another big, brawny film that somehow tries to reinvent the grisly, barbaric...

Review: Kingdom of Heaven
Godfrey’s son Baylin, exemplifies a theological integrity beyond the religious institutional figures of the film. Claiming to not hear God, in him, we see a man who has an intuitive grasp of many of the gospel truths. And yet, Baylin’s unchristian Christianity would not pass him in a Sunday School test (just as Jesus’ debating in the synagogues for hours on end as a boy was because he wasn’t passing the tests either!). It’s hard to not believe that Scott’s intention was to cast Orlando Bloom in an almost messianic light if at times he...

Review: Kingdom of Heaven
The second thing is that Scott is a brave man to release a movie at this time about the wars between Christians and Muslims for control of Jerusalem. Few people will be capable of looking at "Kingdom of Heaven" objectively. I have been invited by both Muslims and Christians to view the movie with them so they can point out its shortcomings. When you've made both sides angry, you may have done something right. The Muslim scholar Hamid Dabashi, however, after being asked to consult on the movie, writes in the new issue of Sight & Sound: "It was neither...

Review: The Return of the King
The Return of the King
opens where The Two Towers ended, with hobbits Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin), and the creature Gollum (Andy Serkis) approaching the dark land of Mordor. Meanwhile, the company of Gandalf the wizard (Ian McKellan), Aragorn the ranger (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas the elf (Orlando Bloom), and Gimli the dwarf (John Rhys-Davies), reunite with their hobbit friends Pippin (Billy Boyd) and Merry (Dominic Monaghan) in the wake of the battle of Isengard. From there, the film follows two branches. The first tracks Frodo's progress...

Review: Kingdom of Heaven (again, again)
Went to Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" tonight. Apart from the, and these are Ang's words, "dreamy Orlando Bloom". It's a bloody gore fest with a positive anti-religious (like that?) message -- so I enjoyed it, to an extent.

Review: Kingdom of Heaven
New York Daily News: For all its scale, grandeur, historical context and political brass, “Kingdom” is no more compelling a period drama than last year’s Alexander

Review: Kingdom of Heaven (again)
Very interesting. As for the cast, you really can’t ask for better. Orlando Bloom is starting to grow on me as an actor. I really liked him in LOTR (but I am so in love with those movies its sick) and Pirates. He does a good job here. He doesn’t possess the presence of Jeremy Irons or Liam Neeson, but he tries. There are memorable characters throughout the film, but I think that Neeson steals it. Actually, let me take that back, Ghassan Massoud, the actor that plays Saladin really cements the story. You feel sympathy for his plight, and can read the struggle...

Orlando Bloom Performs .. On the Hollywood Stock Exchange
If you do happen to like Orlando Bloom, maybe you'll like Orlando Bloom: The Biography; The Amazing True Story Of Britain's Hottest New StarSo far, my best performer is all the stock that I bought in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe last year. I bought 10,589 shares for $30.02 a share. Now it's trading at $90.46, netting me a nice lil gain of $639,999.16. If only this was real money!!!! (if it was real money, i most likely wouldn't be wasting it on buying stock in Orlando Bloom, would I?)

Interesting because we could have watched Troy, the Brad Pitt, Troy? The half-naked, fully buffed Brad Pitt? With a side order of Orlando Bloom?
Of course I’ve seen it before but I would have watched it again, except…
Rabbit Proof Fence is a disturbing, utterly stark, and deeply moving true story.

Tales from the Third Grade
But my favorite story was during recess yesterday. This one quiet boy came up to me and asked me if I knew how to get ahold of Orlando Bloom. You see, he was making a movie with all the characters from Lord of the Rings, but it’s going to be called Boys vs Girls. It’s about boys and girls fighting with fantastical weapons - kinds that can evoke enormous tidal waves and earthquakes. We’re talking, chunks of the earth the size of the swingset being shot out of the ground. But he needs to get it filmed and done before he finishes 5th grade, and he’s not sure if Orlando would want to be Legolas again. I told him it’s worth a shot and not to give up. It sounded like a fantastic movie. If it ever gets completed, I told him, I’d show it at my movie theater.

Kingdom of Heaven on Its Way
Kingdom of Heaven, Ridley Scott's new epic starring Liam Neeson and Orlando Bloom is getting set for release in a few weeks and it appears ready to offend anyone who dare love this country or believes in good and evil. You know, like most movies. An early review:
And what's with this Hollywoody for Orlando Bloom? Talk about a lightweight. I don't think the Rings trilogy were hits because today's Leif Garrett gave a twice divorced overweight middle-aged casting director a mercy poke to snag the role. I thought bad casting in epics were Edward G. Robinson in The Ten Commandments and Tony Curtis in Spartacus until I saw this guy in Troy. And now they're putting him another one? As the lead? Well, anything may be an improvement after this....

Brosnan Back as Bond?
Who knew...So Pierce Brosnan may be back in as Bond. A new report suggests that Brosnan may have just been bluffing when he backed out of the 007 series earlier this year. Brosnan apparently wasn’t too pleased with the financial offer MGM was making. We’ll keep an eye on this story as it develops, because as bad as Brosnan is, we still don’t want the role going to Orlando Bloom or Clive Owen … for reasons I hope I don’t need to articulate.

Kingdom of Heaven
The trailer for the new Ridley Scott film is impressive (he directed Gladiator, apparently). For one thing, Orlando Bloom has returned to has sword/armour niche and that is a good thing. But I expect it is too much to hope a film addressing the Crusades will do so in anything like an even-handed fashion.

Bloom as Bond?
Dark Horizons.net is reporting that a move is afoot to cast “British hunk” Orlando Bloom as a young James Bond, in order to kick-start a new franchise based on the exploits of a more youthful 007. This from Sky News:
Sky Movies reports the British hunk is in serious talks about a series of films based on an idea by a new author about the early life of the MI6 agent. Bloom says “I love the idea, in principle, as he can be far more adventurous and do more stunts. This is as near as I think I will get to playing the grown up James for the next 20 years.”
