Coulter Talks Oscar
This is my first annual Oscar predictions column, for which I am uniquely qualified by not having seen a single one of the movies nominated in any category. I’ve never even watched an Oscar ceremony, except once when a friend called me 35 minutes into Halle Berry’s acceptance speech and I managed to catch only the last 20 minutes of it.

On Ranting
But some people, they thrive on anger. Like DoZ here, starting off with an innocent sounding sentence that normal angry human beings might use,
We’re a society under siege, at the mercy of tykes & teens. Every where you turn, you’re confronted by yet another instance of someone bending over backwards to cater to children.
and then proceeding to wax poetic on Lembas Bread, Capote, and (hold your breath) UN statistics. Damn. Also some mention about a character called James Bond that was in the recent Halle Berry flick, Die Another Day … wait a minute, that was another post. Not the same amount of anger, but just as cool.

Berry-licious
The highlight of her evening was when Halle Berry approached her and commented that she loved the dress and had to know how and where she got it. Our shopper happily proclaimed to the Oscar-winner and Bond girl, that she bought it at our store. Ms. Berry surprised asked “Really?” in disbelief. Our shopper confirmed and Ms. Berry said she would make it a point to come by the store.

The Bad Movie Experience
I would like to see Catwoman, but no one will watch it with me. Halle Berry in skintight pleather isn’t enough to keep a couple of guys entertained for a couple of hours while we all laugh our heads off at the luricrousity (I can say it, I can spell it, I can use it in a sentence, it’s a word, okay?) of it all?

Absolutely Pathetic Lines
Now thinking about quotes, I'm reminded of one of those stupid lines that should never made it into movies. A couple of weeks ago, I was watching X-men and near the final battle scene, Storm asked Toad, "Do you know what happens to toads when struck by lightning...? The same thing that happens to everything else." I had to listen to it again to realize that was the punchline to the question. I think if this was a post on it's own, it would fall under the absolutely pathetic category, but since it is not the opening topic, I will refrain for now. Who knows, but I have a feeling that line gave Halle Berry the role of catwoman.

The Epic Story Of Anne's Hair
2003 Decide to try short hair again, thinking that I will look like Halle Berry. Forget to take into account the facts that Halle Berry is a lot prettier than I am, and has completely different hair. I look like crap.

Halle Berry On The Brain
Yes, scientists are now using pictures of Halle Berry to better understand how human memory works. It seems our brain cells recognize her, even, unfortunately, in her Catwoman outfit.

X-mania
In 2000, Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, Professor Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Mystique, and Toad made their way to neighborhood theaters. The X-men proved to be a big hit at the box office, and helped to reignite Halle Berry’s career. The film also gave an outlet to Patrick Stewart who was facing the end of his stint as Captain Jean-Luc Picard for Star Trek. The X-men united with their former foes in 2003 to battle William Stryker and Deathstrike in a sequel that brought the additions of Nightcrawler, Iceman, Pyro and Kitty Pryde. When the third chapter of the X-men series unfolds in 2006 the public can expect to see Beast portrayed by Kelsey Grammar, Juggernaut to be played by Vinnie Jones and for Jean Grey to rise from the ashes to become the Phoenix. Sadly, it appears we will have to wait for a fourth X-men movie before we can experience the Raging Cajun on screen, seeing as Gambit is not part of the announced cast for X-men 3.

Comics to Film
Click through for thoughts on some other comic-derived films. The movie could have worked with that strange catsuit. It could have worked with Halle Berry. But it had the worst story and acting ever. Like it was written (down) for children, but why all the sex appeal, then? Yes, Berry was ridiculous, but she can't take all the blame. Someone DIRECTED her to act that way.

Symbolism in Gothika
As an occult horror film Gothika uses the familiar—ghosts, possession, a tragic past, questioning reality—with effective ease. From the opening session between Dr. Miranda Grey (Halle Berry) and patient/fellow inmate Chloe (Penelope Cruz), questions of possession and repressed memory are raised, to follow the viewer throughout the film. When Miranda switches from staff member to patient, does she share more in common with Chloe than their residence? I don’t want to say more about this, because I don’t want to give away too much.

Oh God..!!!! It’s a Friday
Judge Ajay: Prosecutor, I don’t know where you are leading with all this. But if you are considering submitting “Catwoman” as evidence and making us watch that movie, let me strongly suggest that you reconsider your choice. If any other Halle Berry movie will do, let me suggest “Monster’s Ball” .At least it has some..err…hmm… “interesting Halle Berry scenes” in it. Anyways, all this talk about Halle Berry is making me thirsty. Let us resume after a tea break.

Review: Robots
Even in a world populated entirely by mechanical beings Rodney Copperbottom (McGregor) is considered a genius inventor. Rodney dreams of two things, making the world a better place and meeting his idol, the master inventor Bigweld (Brooks). On his journey he encounters Cappy (Halle Berry), a beautiful executive `bot with whom Rodney is instantly smitten, the nefarious corporate tyrant Ratchet (Kinnear) who locks horns with Rodney, and a group of misfit `bots known as the Rusties, led by Fender (Williams) and Piper Pinwheeler (Bynes).

Review: Gothika
Next was Halle Berry in Gothika. It didn't get rave reviews at the theatre, but it actually was pretty good. In a "nutshell," Halle is a Psychiatrist who ends up in the loony bin for murdering her husband, and she doesn't remember killing him. It has some good twists throughout the movie. Worth the watch if you have the time.

Alicia Key's Stars in Halle Berry Film
Even more unexpected than her present performances, perhaps, are the new areas Keys plans to expand into in the future. Fans will hear more and more about her upcoming movie role in "Composition in Black and White," a movie based on Kathryn Talalay's book and produced by Halle Berry. It's about the life of another young piano prodigy, Phillipa Schuyler, with another parallel being that Schulyer, like Keys, was a biracial musician (see "Alicia Keys To Play Biracial Piano Prodigy In First Movie"). The daughter of black author George Schuyler and white...

Halle Berry a Good Sport
Well, I didn't watch the Oscars tonight, but a somewhat related article caught my eye.
The Razzie awards, held the night before the Oscars honor the worst in movies over the year. In this case Halle Berry 'won' for her apparently awful performance in Catwoman. For obvious reasons, people don't really show up to accept these awards, but in this case Halle Berry did, showing a great sense of humor.

It's a standout career performance from Halle Berry who's emotions are raw and primal. It is obvious why she received the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance.

Wait For the Poster
President, Catwoman win Razzies
Funny stuff here. I’ve long wanted to see Catwoman, just to see Halle Berry in a cat outfit. But with bad reviews like this, I think I’ll save my $2 rental fee for an overpriced latte.
Still though, I’m sure I can find cheap posters on eBay.
