Review: Ray
it’s very good, but very looooong.. after the first hour and a half i began to find it a bit repetitive. but a very interesting movie nonetheless, i learned much about his courageous struggle through life. jamie foxx (ray) is excellent in his part. the music’s great also. see it!

Enough Indiana Jones References
I think we’re all well aware that Seth McFarlane loves the Indiana Jones movies, but it’s starting to seem like he has an unhealthy man on man type of love for Harrison Ford (which would be somewhat understandable) or… Steven Spielberg (which would just be weird).

It's An Accent Waiting To Happen
On the subject of Cillian Murphy, while watching 28 Days Later I got to thinking about how crappy most U.K. actors’ American accents tend to be. Ewan McGregor has sounded Scottish in every film that required him to act British, except for Big Fish
, which required him to have the most stereotypical Southern accent imaginable. Keira Knightley’s voice drops several octaves when she tries to sound American. Orlando Bloom sounds like an elf no matter what he does. Even Jude Law can’t quite pull it off. Murphy’s is by far the best American accent I’ve heard in the past five years. (He has said in an interview that Irish actors have such effective American accents because of all the bad American TV they watch.) There was really no point to that last paragraph, other than to mention Cillian Murphy a couple more times in conjunction with Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, and Orlando Bloom. Just be glad I haven’t said anything about Thom Yorke in this post.

Interview with the Vampire
Growing up in a Christian home, my siblings and I were never allowed to watch movies that were rated above our age. To over compensate for our interest in rated R movies, my mom purchased every Disney movie there was. Each time that I thought I had seen them all, mom would bring home another one. I was ten years old when I saw my first rated R movie and I still regret it to this day. My cousin Cassie and I are really close, she is my best friend. She could watch whatever she wanted because her mom was not around that much. One night, we rented a movie off of pay-per-veiw called, “Interview with the Vampire
”, starring Tom Criuse, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst.

'Lord': What a movie
But it is the actors and acting that keeps us in our seats during the movie and crying at the end. Viggo Mortensen is one of the best action heroes in years. His Aragon is fierce, brooding, reluctant, proud and honorable. Orlando Bloom is fierce, gentle and true as the elf. Ian McKellen, as Gandalf, is fierce, wise and foolish, father and friend. Eowyn (Miranda Otto) finally gets to show her mettle, as do the hobbits Pippin (Billy Boyd) and Merry (Dominic Monaghan), and the result is a real crowd-pleaser. And Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, as Frodo and Sam, the Bearer of the Heavy Burden and his best friend, forge a wonderful relationship.

How Bad Is Michael Bay?
1. Michael Bay and George Lucas do share a common trait. They are able to take good to average actors and through careful direction draw from them performances that are so bad they border on the astonishing. I don’t think anyone would accuse Ben Affleck of being a good actor, but the depths of his badness remained darksome and unknown until the advent of Michael Bay.

Review: Crash
Crash came out on DVD about a week ago and I watched it this weekend. Excellent movie. It’s a drama about race and prejudice that I think handled things very well. The story follows about 6 groups of people and their lives all intersect. They don’t know each other but we watch there lives cross paths and how they effect each other. A great cast with Don Cheatle, Sandra Bullock, Ludacris, Ryan Phillipee, just to name a few. It’s about an hour and 45 so it’s the perfect length. Exceptional acting, directing and editing keeps things moving and always interesting. Check it out if you get the chance.

The Date Movie
“The female lead has to be independent and feisty, because the women in the audience feel insulted if she’s shallow or too easy to win over. And the male has to be, you know, sort of wry and manly and infuriating in that Harrison Ford way.

Review: Out of Time
Late one sultry night in Banyan Keys, Florida, Police Chief Matt Whitlock (Denzel Washington) is called out to the house of Ann Harrison (Sanaa Lathan) about a break-in. Ann takes Whitlock to the bedroom where the alleged crime took place, declares that the intruder ‘kinda looked like you’, and gets Whitlock to re-enact the ‘assault and entry’. In fact, Whitlock is Ann’s lover, and this has all been an elaborate erotic charade, but it also serves as an economic introduction to all that is to come in ‘Out of Time’ - the confusion of police investigation and personal life, the framing of Whitlock as a criminal, and a heady mix of sex,circle-playing and unexpected twists.

Crash on DVD
This was a pretty cool movie. It had all of the big stars in it! Matt Dillion, Sandra Bullock, etc. The list goes on. This was a very touching movie, althought it made me pissed off a lot. I still recommend it. Two thumbs up!

Matt Damon's DNA For Sale
As of the writing of this post, you have 2 days 10 hrs left to bid on the remnants of a cream puff that Matt Damon supposedly ate plus the fork and plate he used. The seller suggests that DNA could theoretically be retrieved from these items and used for cloning another Matt Damon.

Review: Devil in a Blue Dress
Denzel Washington plays Easy, who has lost his job and finds himself working as an impromptu private investigator in 1948 Los Angelos. With voice narration, gangsters, betrayal, and the ‘dame’, it is film noir at it’s best. Of particular note is Don Cheadle’s portrayal of Mouse, Easy’s childhood friend from Texas is both funny and scary. A smallish unassuming figure Mouse has a propensity for violence, but has a charming attitude you cannot help but like.

Moo-vays
Last night I went for sushi with some friends from Rob’s work. After dinner, the little group of us congregated at one of the apartments to watch two truly bad movies: Gigli, and Battlefield Earth. Deep, deep stinkers. At least BE was kind of funny though. Gigli was really so bad it’s not even worth a laugh. Well, except for two scenes of humour value: in one, J-Lo and Ben Affleck talk about the relative merits of men versus women for sleeping with, as she goes through elaborate yoga-esque contortions in spandex. In the other, she invites him to go down on her with the memorable line: “It’s turkey time… gobble gobble!” Silly and funny! But none of the rest of the movie is worth watching, so really, don’t bother.

The Dark Side
This is something I came across. This is just too funny for anyone that has seen Tom Cruise’s recent performance on random TV shows. This video may explain what is going on! Don’t mind the watermark “wld”, I borrowed this from a bittorrent site.

Jolie & Aniston
Why is the world so worked up about Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie? I, mean look at these two, if it was not for plastic surgery on Aniston's nose, then she would either be a waitress or selling real estate! Angelina Joile looks as though she's had "boob-job", and they placed the "boob" in the place of her brain! Now, what Aniston & Jolie have in common, is one thing, and that is they have had the weenie from Brad "the Pitts", and that joker must be hung like a "Jersey-Bull", to have those those two ladies fighting over him. Aniston, let itgo, you'll find your Jimmy Durante someday, and Angelina Jolie will eventually go back to Billy-Bob, the bar, most probably, not the actor.

Review: Ray
Sadly I have to tell you that 'Ray' isn't different. Sure he is blind and minor details are different, like all the time, but if you take a real look into it there is nothing new about it. So there goes the storyline. Everything else about this movie nevertheless worked worked for me. As far as I can tell Jamie Foxx was able to imitate Ray Charles pretty perfectly, the music was nice and I learned a lot of things about Ray Charles that I didn't knew beforehand.
