Tom Cruise Advises Against Meds

movie star tom cruise in a box
Not sure why Tom Cruise was opining on medications and psychiatry ... or why anyone would believe him.
Tom Cruise actually used his air time to berate parents who give their kids medication for ADD, and adults who take antidepressants. He went so far as to call Brooke Shields "irresponsible" for publicizing her battle with postpartum depression and the medication that finally helped her recover. He also claimed that there is no science behind psychiatry.

Because of people and society giving psychitropic medication a dangerous name. I have lost any respect I ever had for Tom Cruise. After years of depression, therapy and refusing any medication and almost dieing from suicidal ideation, medication saved my life. How dear Tom Cruise claim he is an expert on depression and medication. I will never, ever watch another movie of his. I have had years of therapy for trauma, and abuse which has destroyed my life since I was a child. Because of feeling like a freak, I refused medication until I was 40 years old. Now at 53 years old, in thirteen years, I was able to get a degree in nursing, go thru a divorce, move to another state alone, and buy my own home. To some this may seem like nothing, but for 40 years, I was paralyzed by fear, pain and despair, and not until I finally agreed at 40 years old to try medication. I said to my doctors after it took 6 weeks before I even felt the effect of the medication, that I felt it was the first time in my life that I could breath.

Tom Cruise, I wont lower myself and bring my self down to his level to criticize, but I would suggest that he should try and stay away from the camera making acqusations about any medication and chemical inbalance. All I can say is, I hope to GOD no one takes him literally, but sad enough some will, and will even try to go off medication. Movie stars have no idea how they have an effect on the public who are vulnerable.

I practiced psychiatric nursing for several years, and with very mentally ill patients/criminals, the most important thing to teach them is to try and stay on their medicine.

Personally, I feel terrible for Steven Speilberg and what a travesty Tom Cruise might have caused for his movie. I am sure many, many people will boycot it, because of one individual (Tom Cruise), who not only thinks he is a Doctor, but God. Mr. Cruise is not of aware of how many people need help that is critical and only can be controlled by medication and psychotherapy.

My last words are God forgive you Tom Cruise.
