For those of us with the lowered expectations associated with an Ashton Kutcher project, The Butterfly Effect is a pleasant surprise. It's yet another experiment with the idea of "What if?" It's A Wonderful Life did it with class, Groundhog Day did it with humor, and now The Butterfly Effect does it with depression and horror.
