Beyond Insanity
I saw the movie Beyond Borders last night. The new one with Angelina Jolie with the saving the starving people in 3rd world countries do dah? It’s hard to describe, I mean, I thought it was well-done, but [Chandler Bing]could there be a worse ending?[/Chandler Bing]. Yack. I mean, it’s depressing.
Also, I think Angelina Jolie is creepy. Not to mention, her lips are Distracting with a capital D. Every time I see her face, it takes all of my attention to not look at them. And it looks like she purses them all of the time — erh. Annoying. The guy who plays Nick, Clive Owen? Is my new boyfriend. He was FABulous. The critics are blasting the movie because it focused too much on the love story, but seriously, this isn’t a War Relief or UNICEF documentary. It’s a movie with CHARACTERS, therefore, we have to see what their...

Angie-Brad Photos Spark Bidding War
Who knew...But the spotlight refuses to veer away from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who still maintain that they are “just close friends”.
A New York Daily News source says: “When you’re Brad Pitt and you’re Angelina Jolie and you’re tired of hiding, this is a great way to do it. You do it in a remote location, bring your child out and don’t have physical intimacy that’s obvious in photos. This is a way to break the news softly.”

Brushes with Fame, Revisited
Read the whole thing.Everyone has their brushes with fame, whether it be bumping into Carrot Top at the local McDonald's, or running into Tara Reid at your weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Damon in Syriana
Today I alert your attention to writer/director Stephen Gaghan’s Syriana , starring George Clooney, Matt Damon ... Gaghan is most famous for writing Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic , for which Gaghan took home an Oscar. He’s also responsible for ruining … excuse me, writing the screenplay for the revisionist The Alamo that lost Disney a mountain of money.

Alicia Key's Stars in Halle Berry Film
Even more unexpected than her present performances, perhaps, are the new areas Keys plans to expand into in the future. Fans will hear more and more about her upcoming movie role in "Composition in Black and White," a movie based on Kathryn Talalay's book and produced by Halle Berry. It's about the life of another young piano prodigy, Phillipa Schuyler, with another parallel being that Schulyer, like Keys, was a biracial musician (see "Alicia Keys To Play Biracial Piano Prodigy In First Movie"). The daughter of black author George Schuyler and white...

Rubbing Elbows
I was shocked, simply shocked.Over the years, I've seen countless Stella comedy shows - an old Wednesday night staple - in addition to many up close troubadours: Ben Lee, Ed Harcourt, Flight of the Conchords, Gary Jules, Peter Salett, among others. Because of its small size, celebrities like Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, and Claire Danes would rub elbows with the regular folks. Even a diva like Joan Rivers, Fez's frequent and final performer, couldn't complain. It was a comforting, humble place for all, which I will miss so very much.

Review: Malcolm X
The film is very well-paced. With such a long running time, the film never really drags. The opening act of the movie, which focuses on two-bit hustler and gangster Malcolm Little (Denzel Washington), is very slowly-paced, but it’s also very entertaining. This portion of the film, in fact, looks a lot like a Spike Lee film. But when Malcolm is arrested and jailed, everything changes. In prison, he is converted by the Nation of Islam, which leads him to radically re-examine his life and goals. When he emerges from prison, he is no longer Malcolm Little. He is Malcolm X.

Taking Lives
We didn’t have anything to do last night, so after we cleaned up dinner, we talked then watched a movie. We watched that Angelina Jolie film, Taking Lives
. What a strange movie. I knew from the start who the bad guy was, but the ending took me completely by surprise, which was really fun. I think a movie should be like a roller coaster, have the ability to take you along and either make you scream, cry or surprise the hell out of you.

Another Jolie Confession
Bless me blogosphere, for I have sinned. Not only am I wishing hot fiery death upon the denizens of New York's publishing houses, but it has been three months since my last confession - and I haven't improved one whit as a human being. I am still weighed down with sin - saddled with sloth, laziness, and an obsession that causes me to horde nude pics of Angelina Jolie.

Hollywood Technodreams made real at the Pentagon
If you've watched Minority Report
, the 2002 sci-fi movie starring Tom Cruise, you probably remember the scenes when Cruise's detective character donned gloves that allowed him to move data around on giant screens. It was almost as if he were conducting an orchestra. In any case, it was an artistic and memorable way to manipulate information.

Movie Review: Bourne Identity/Supremacy
Lumping these two flicks together for one rating is a bit unfair. Each of them is really good in its own right. Each of them is good enough to sit on the same shelf will all the great Clancy movies. (And Matt Damon is seriously threatening Harrison Ford, in my mind, for the perfect spy movie actor. Not overtaking, but threatening.) However, I do recommend watching the two in sequence to make them easier to follow, the same as I would recommend for the Lord of the Rings trilogy (even though it is a 15 hour marathon).

Review: Sledge Hammer! Season Two DVD
On to the show, Sledge Hammer aired on ABC for two seasons on ABC in the mid 80’s, 1986 to 1987 to be exact. The show was hilarious and it is truly remarkable that such a cult classic that only ran for two seasons made it to DVD. Fans truly should be grateful to the shows creator Alan Spencer and Anchor Bay for bringing this show to DVD. The show was a spoof of cop shows, but the writing was so good, that the laughs weren’t always laugh out loud laughs, but if you paid attention and got the joke, you were bound to chuckle. The lead...

Dear Blockbuster Video
I think I learned a valuable lesson here. Number one, your company sucks, and number two, the people that think your selection is great also suck. Don’t worry local Blockbuster, I’ll probably still be a patron for when the time comes that I feel compelled to see an Ashton Kutcher movie or something equally dumb.

The Pacifier: Vin Diesel has a go at comedy and it’s actually a pretty good movie.. It won’t have you rolling on the floor laughing or anything, but there are quite a few funny moments. And if nothing else, you can just sit and oogle at Vin Diesel’s superb body for an hour and a half. :P

Brother of "Bachelor" Dating Rachel Hunter
Hollywood is a small town.hey kids! monday monday! cloudy and gross in LA today! and yes - it's like the 5th or 6th go-around for ABC's the bachelor and although i said i would never watch again - i somehow find myself hooked (and this is the first season to take place in NYC - makes me homesick!) - as the show gets older - it's also getting saucier and bitchier - the girls are tougher and go to great lengths to basically hate and diss each other! (like one girl called someone a 'slut' - i love shows where people call each other 'sluts' - it's such a great word - just say it out loud like you mean it!) i love watching girls compete over some guy - it's oh so fun! and this time bachelor charlie o'connell is kinda cute and lovable - but not as cute as older brother jerry o'connell who i saw a few months back looking good at starbucks (just FYI 'coffee bean' sucks my ass - sorry folks! its true!) across the street! i think he is dating rachel hunter last time i checked! anyways check out the bachelor tonight - and then stay tuned for more craziness with super nanny - popbytes out for now...

Interesting because we could have watched Troy, the Brad Pitt, Troy? The half-naked, fully buffed Brad Pitt? With a side order of Orlando Bloom?

Rabbit Proof Fence is a disturbing, utterly stark, and deeply moving true story.

Review: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Click through for full review.I don't want to turn all Orson Scott Card and judge films according to their alignment to my own value system, but certainly finding a fictional (or in this case, semi-fictional) character sympathetic will help me like a movie more. Heck, even understanding his mindset would be a start. I don't have a problem with recreational drug-use per se, but I'm afraid I just don't grok Thompson, Duke or Doctor Gonzo. (I had the same problem with The Big Lebowski - not a single relatable character in the entire story.)
Or for that matter, simply understanding the words people are saying would be a beginning. But Johnny Depp substituted incomprehensible mumblings, over the top gesticulations and weird noises for acting. (Benicio Del Toro did too... though not so much with the mumbles.) It's not as if these guys can't act - obviously they can. It's not even as if Depp can't ham it up effectively - as his turn in Pirates of the Caribbean demonstrated. But here 95% of their performance reeked of overindulgence. Benicio Del Toro incidentally, strangely looks more like Johnny Depp than Johnny Depp, when he isn't looking like Edward James Olmos.

My Hot Dog's Got a First Name, it's O-S-C-A-R
Maybe it’s because I simply can’t drink as much as I used to, but the Oscars just don’t entertain me like they used to. Not to mention the fact that I wasn’t much excited by any of the nominated movies this year. In fact, the last time I felt enthusiastic about the Academy Awards was when Hilary Swank won the first time, and that’s because I had a crush on "Boys Don’t Cry" director Kimberly Peirce (when will she direct her next movie??). I also thought it would be a big deal for a movie about the transgendered Brandon...

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl
This is one movie, which will make you stand up and notice one brilliant actor whom we have often ignored - I mean, Johnny Depp. Immortalising the quirky, swaying, yet always-at-his-wits anti-hero “Jack Sparrow", Depp has proven yet again that he is one of the most versatile actors in the industry. Sprinkled with witty one-liners and dazzling with visual effects, you cannot afford to miss this joyride. Highly Recommended.

Review: Blow
Often George Jung (played by Johnny Depp) would reach a point in his life when he’d say, “and it was perfect.” Generally, that point would soon be followed by a tragedy or a police/FBI bust. I guess this movie almost brought me to tears a few times because of the sadness of George’s life. (CAUTION: SPOILERS!!) I know this happens all the time, but I find it heart-wrenching that people live like he does/did. I suppose it was a gradual process….first, he never wanted to lack money like his parents did. Second, he wanted...

For Once, It Wasn't Tara Reid
Arrest Warrant for ‘Pie’ Actress
“Pie,” of course, refers to “American Pie,” that stupid teen movie about kids defiling warm apple pies and cups of beer. Having said that, what one name immediately jumps to your mind with the above headline? If you said Daniel Spink, then you might have some weird obsession with monkeys. Get help.
The name that exploded into my mind in 100 foot-tall letters glowing like the surface of the sun is Tara Reid. Seriously, who else could it be? That girl parties so hard that she didn’t realize half her dress had come off in front of reporters. It therefore stands to reason that she wouldn’t realize … well, anything, including a court summons.
But I give Miss Reid too little credit. Her co-star, Natasha Lyonne (who?) is the one in trouble with the poh-poh. Natasha apparently burst in to her neighbor’s apartment, ripped a mirror from the wall, and then said she would molest the neighbor’s dog.

Moral Tales
The actual tale is much longer and more complicated (and involves more plot turns that Salma rode in Breaking UpMy group consisted of myself and one other classmate, Chris. We were assigned the fable "The Fox and the Grapes," which consists of a fox jumping repeatedly for grapes that are just out of its reach, before finally giving up and declaring that the grapes are probably sour anyways. The moral of the fable? "It is easy to despise what you cannot get." Which is only partially true, because I know that I'll probably never "get" Salma Hayek, but I certainly don't despise her. Not by a long shot.

Review: Ocean's Twelve
Not every character is used enough. Bernie Mac appears for maybe ten minutes of the entire film, and everyone else besides Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney are horribly underused the entire film. Honestly, I could have really used a lot more of Casey Affleck. The guy is hilarious. Lucky enough for us, Matt Damon becomes our main character because he is quite funny as the new guy desperately trying to fit into a group he probably doesn’t belong in.

Johnny Depp In Controversy
Set off by an article in which [actor] Johnny Depp allegedly called the United States a "dumb puppy that has big teeth" . . . Farah's reasoned reaction to Depp [was] "I say we should make certain this scumbucket never works in America again. . . . It's time to silence these people. It's time to force them to get real jobs and perform real work and learn the unusual and undeserved blessings America has bestowed upon them." Like the First Amendment right of free speech, perhaps?

Arquettes Suing over Christening Photos
David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette have threatened legal action against anyone who publishes photographs of their baby, after the snap was leaked to media organizations. Ten-month-old Coco was snapped at her Alabama, Georgia, christening earlier this month, where Jennifer Aniston was named godmother, and the couple seethed as they discovered the pictures were being distributed without their permission. Several media organizations, including the New York Daily News and Sky News, have reported they received emails from an originator claiming...
THOSE deceiving devils on the Web have struck again. A day after someone posing as Jennifer Aniston sent around "personal" photos, another e-mail was sent around — with those same "personal photos" attached — purporting to know about an awkward moment during the April 9 christening of David and Courteney Cox Arquette's daughter, Coco, in Birmingham, Ala. The e-mail, purportedly sent by Callie Michael, an employee at the House Appropriations Committee on Defense, said, "one of my friends' aunt is really good friends of Courtney's from high school...

Tales from the Third Grade
But my favorite story was during recess yesterday. This one quiet boy came up to me and asked me if I knew how to get ahold of Orlando Bloom. You see, he was making a movie with all the characters from Lord of the Rings, but it’s going to be called Boys vs Girls. It’s about boys and girls fighting with fantastical weapons - kinds that can evoke enormous tidal waves and earthquakes. We’re talking, chunks of the earth the size of the swingset being shot out of the ground. But he needs to get it filmed and done before he finishes 5th grade, and he’s not sure if Orlando would want to be Legolas again. I told him it’s worth a shot and not to give up. It sounded like a fantastic movie. If it ever gets completed, I told him, I’d show it at my movie theater.

Matt Damon, Regular Guy
He might be a big-time movie star, but the truth is, Matt Damon is a regular guy. The fresh-faced Oscar winner (for co-writing 1997's "Good Will Hunting" with long time friend Ben Affleck), star of the Jason Bourne series ("The Bourne Identity" and "The Bourne Supremacy"), poker film Rounders, and more than 30 other films. Oddly enough Matt Damon does not own a cell phone, he dislikes flying and prefers to drive his mother back home to Boston when she visits...
Matt Damon, who co-starred with Pitt in Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve, saw the same attention directed at his longtime friend Ben Affleck during his doomed romance with Jennifer Lopez, and he's admits it's a position he'd hate to be in.

Wrongful Conviction
Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was a great boxer who once almost won a world championship. However, in 1967 he was arrested and wrongly convicted for a triple murder in a bar, the Lafayette Grill in Paterson, New Jersey. Over the next decades, he and his supporters amassed convincing evidence of his innocence that lead to his release in 1986. His story was told in the book Hurricane. The miraculous Journay if Rubin Carter by James S. Hirsch and also in the movie Hurricane with Denzel Washington. I can recommend both.

Last summer/LA/and what REALLY happend
Pretty funny.I was invited to the set of “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". I was kind of excited about it, and it sort of happened in one afternoon so I didn’t have time to call anyone back home to let them know what had happened. None the less, I was on my way out to the set. There I met Gweneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. What more could I want from Hollywood?! Now…where it gets good. Gwen, Ang, and I sort of hit it off…but not really at the same time. I had lunch with Gwen where we talked about Indiana and what I was doing back home. Things slowly progressed and we ended up going at it. I know….weird….it gets better.

Goofball Dreams
A few nights ago I dreamt that Johnny Depp was a fellow classmate of mine in what was a blend of high school and the LIOS program. In the dream I recall thinking, "I don't recall him being a classmate, and yet I do. This is awfully strange!" Someone in the dream was asking me what it was like to attend class with someone so famous and I replied by saying, "He was very friendly and kind to everyone." My analysis of this dream has got to be related to the Mini-Module in which Carol showed us a plethora of Johnny Depp films in order to bring to life...

Worth $7.50
Ok, so I'm not the biggest Vin Diesel fan. I think after having dated Kevin, I just don't like Vin Diesel because he said he was his role model and he wished he looked like him. I didn't like him in The Chronicles of Riddick, either. I guess I'm a harsh movie critic.
I wouldn't necesarily reccommend this movie, but it was definitely worth $7.50 to see Vin Diesel ride a pink and purple little girl's bicycle.

Review: After The Sunset
So tonight I watched After the Sunset. I'd highly reccomend it, as both Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek are rediculously hot. Well, not juist that, but it was a good movie. I usually don't care much for action / adventure type movies, but this one was definitely an exception. Pierce Brosnan is hot for an old guy. Anyways. Go watch it.

Review: Ocean's Twelve
what i liked a lot: matt damon so happily playing third fiddle, and a putz at that; elliott gould–did “ocean’s eleven” get him any more work? that’s about it–the heist stuff was uninvolving, the script not particularly witty, and it featured catherine zeta-jones (whose appeal continues to elude me). and i would like to point out that the theatrical trailer is NOT a “special” feature. unless that was a joke–if so, it might explain why i didn’t think the movie was a hoot.

Information Overload
The technology in question is called "Gesture Technology". If you saw the film, you may remember that Tom Cruise and several other people from the "Pre-Crime" unit were able to view data in a heads-up display. These individuals could move the data, re-arrange the data and view the data by using gestures. While this technology was not prominent in the short story the film was loosely based on, it turns out there is real research behind the gesture technology. What's more, Raytheon, a defense contractor,...

Good Thing Number Three: the director is none other than Mr. Bruce Robinson, all-round wonderful man and driving force behind seminal British comedy Withnail And I and the actually-quite-good (go and watch it again) How To Get Ahead In Advertising.

Ben Affleck Long Ago
One of my favorite movies is Glory Daze, a fairly low-budget film with some great before-they-were-famous acting, most notably by Ben Affleck, French Stewart and Matthew McConaghey, though McConaghey's cameo is very short-but-sweet. It stands out with me because it captures so many of my college memories: punk music, a job at a hippy pizza place, trenching of front yards, trashy student housing, a fear of graduation, a desire to make college last forever, and an eventual epiphany that the whole thing was tremendous, but temporary, and that a time...

Review: Good Will Hunting
From these quotes i can also say that love is from the heart and the mind is just what we use to read what is coming from the heart. Also the last one about letting go of fear, that works hand in hand with the movie i just watched, “Good Will Hunting”. The last scene when Sean (Robin Williams) is telling Will (Matt Damon) that all that has happened in his life is not his fault, he lets go of that fear and falls in love for the first time.

Is the twitchy one as besotted with his better-looking 'friend' as he seems, or does he harbour more malevolent imaginings? Is that look one of adoring admiration, or is it a darker emotion, a black-hearted envy? Yes, it's the Matt Damon-Jude Law dynamic from Anthony Minghella's The Talented Mr Ripley. Minghella's latest work, incidentally, is

Et Tu, Gordon?
The Observer does its best to link Blair and Brown to Caesar and Brutus (with Peter Mandelson as Mark Antony!), but in reality they are more like Aguecheek and Belch from Twelfth Night - PM's question time always being more comedic than tragic. The current American production is also mentioned with Denzel Washington as Brutus giving the feeling that it's more of a stage bound sequel to The Siege with all its post 9-11 trappings. Thankfully this is one British production not padded with actors more at home acting in front of CGI rather than...

Review: Remember the Titans
Today in CSR 309 we finished watching the movie "Remember the Titans". I really like this movie, this is probably the 4th time I have seen it. This movie relays several very powerful and meaningful messages. Denzel Washington is a black High School footbal coach, he is transferred into the position of head coach of a football team in a formerly segregated and rather racist community. Denzel's charachter is faced with much strong opposition and doubt that he must overcome personally and also help the team and his staff overcome as well. Denzel's character displays a tremendous amount of leadership, he unites the team and passes his passion on to the players, changing their lives forever. Denzel's character exemplifies good leadership qualities through his consistent actions and words. Denzel's character never falters in the face of heavy opposition, this lifts his players and others around him up by showing them his true passion for what he believes is right and just.

Confession Time!
Okay, here goes......I fart. Yup, I do it, you do it, hell even Brad Pitt does it. My husband is repulsed by the idea that ladies pass gas, it just isn't ladylike. Some may agree, but I think it's downright hilarious. Most of the time.

Review: After the Sunset
Hey I rented "After the Sunset" this weekend with Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Woody Harrelson and Don Cheadle. After the Sunset was a great movie, full of action and suspense and alot of comedy. Pierce was at his best, but when is he not, and Salma was a great addition to his acting. Pierce and Salma are diamond thieves that have stolen two of the three Napoleon diamonds while making FBI agent Woody Harrelson look like a fool. Yea, the script was great for that. Then Woody found the two retired thieves who happen to be living right where the third...

Kingdom of Heaven on Its Way
Kingdom of Heaven, Ridley Scott's new epic starring Liam Neeson and Orlando Bloom is getting set for release in a few weeks and it appears ready to offend anyone who dare love this country or believes in good and evil. You know, like most movies. An early review:
And what's with this Hollywoody for Orlando Bloom? Talk about a lightweight. I don't think the Rings trilogy were hits because today's Leif Garrett gave a twice divorced overweight middle-aged casting director a mercy poke to snag the role. I thought bad casting in epics were Edward G. Robinson in The Ten Commandments and Tony Curtis in Spartacus until I saw this guy in Troy. And now they're putting him another one? As the lead? Well, anything may be an improvement after this....

Ben Affleck Overheard
"Remember a few years ago when Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were here shooting Project Greenlight?" (They had gone to Sundance to interview directors and writers and try and create a publicity stunt and an episode out of it.) "I was doing sound in the condo where they were both lodging and filming. At one point Ben took a break from shooting and disappeared upstairs to his bedroom. By mistake he left his wireless mic on."

Review: Million Dollar Baby
Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) is a down-on-his-luck former boxing manager who spends the twilight years of his life running a small, dilapidated gym in downtown Los Angeles. Frankie’s previous career was blighted by an injury to one of his prize fighters, Scrap (Morgan Freeman), who lost the sight in his right eye during a particularly brutal bout; Scrap now whiles away the hours working as a cleaner in Frankie’s gym. Wary of similar occurrences being inflicted on the young talent that passes before him, Frankie lets great boxers slip...

Halle Berry a Good Sport
Well, I didn't watch the Oscars tonight, but a somewhat related article caught my eye.
The Razzie awards, held the night before the Oscars honor the worst in movies over the year. In this case Halle Berry 'won' for her apparently awful performance in Catwoman. For obvious reasons, people don't really show up to accept these awards, but in this case Halle Berry did, showing a great sense of humor.

Burger King: Selling Food or Something Else?
Almost every time we turn on the television we see a Burger King commercial. However, I have recently discovered several undertones in these commercials that I don’t believe to have any relation to selling fast-food. There are currently two Burger King Commercials that truly stick out from the rest. The first one, that I am sure you have all seen, is the one with Brooke Burke. During the commercial she is seen in the background on a swing eating a burger. At the end of the commercial, the camera gets a close up of her and she says one like, “Come...

Tom Cruise Worth the Money
He also argues that paying superstars a sum equal to the increase in revenues they're expected to generate usually means a movie won't be profitable. Indeed, in one chapter, he shows that not all superstars are worth such payments. Though Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Clint Eastwood may be; Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro or Bruce Willis may not be.

Shockey: Spend More Time With Team
Shockey is obviously thickheaded, it’s no surprise to Giants fans. We’ve seen this since day one, however, three weeks in, and I personally am starting to become a little worried. With all the working out, he may or may not be doing, he has taken the time to make numerous public appearances in Miami with actress Tara Reid. Perhaps he should take those times to show up and work with his team.

Water under The Bridge
Watched “Million Dollar Baby” a couple of days ago. Thought it was a very good movie. Not the best, but good enough. Although the plotting is a bit old fashioned, the actings were definitely supreme, especially Hilary Swank. The conclusion was, it is more appropriate for it to win the Best Picture than “The Aviator”, among all the not so high quality films this year.

Punking Leads to Shannon Elizabeth's Divorce?
I caught a few minutes of the MTV show 'Punk'd' last night and Ashton Kutcher alluded to Shannon Elizabeth divorcing her husband because he punk'd her. The premise of the show, for those who live in a cave and haven't heard of it, is that someone gets set up, usually by friends and relatives. For example, Justin Timberlake's mom set him up to believe that he was broke and having his stuff repossessed. At one point, he's on his cell phone and the fake repo-men ask him 'whose cellphone is that?' as if they're going to take it. Watch zillionaire...

Secret Window
But what is the movie about with that sort of ending? A guy killing his wife and her lover. That’s it. There are no real themes, no resonance or unusual ideas. Nothing that has us thinking on our way out the theater, other than “Golly, Johnny Depp kicks ass.” So it’s a movie that isn’t very scary, with an unsurprising surprise ending, and only one decent characterization which falls apart at the end.

I sooo want to go see Guess Who with Kristin tomorrow. Ashton Kutcher is sooo cute! Ben Affleck will star in a biopic that focuses on the life of George Reeves, the actor who portrayed Superman in the 1950s TV series, and the investigations of his mysterious death in 1959.
The lead role was initially offered to Hugh Jackman, Keanu Reeves, Viggo Mortensen, and Dennis Quaid at various times, but Ben Affleck proved to be the strongest contender.

Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery
Does a casual flirtation cause harm? I don't think it does. But someone else might. Does the husband's endless fascination with Angelina Jolie harm me? Nope, because I'm secure in our relationship and I know that bitch can't hold a candle to me. She's also a whack-job, too, so I've got her beat there, as well. (No comments from the Peanut Gallery, eh?) Does my fascination with Colin Firth hurt the husband? Does he think I'm cheating because I occasionally wander around Pemberley in my mind with Colin? Nope. Because we understand what is and isn't cheating. We're on the same page. We've made promises and have kept those promises. Other couples might think differently and might have made different promises.

Can Vin Diesel Play Sky Masterson?
I'm sorry, if Vin Diesel plays Sky Masterson I'm going to have to go all Neo to put a stop to it, else the Machine Terrorists will have won.
Sure, if you start with Vin Diesel as Sky Masterson, you'd have to get Penelope Cruz to be the Salvation Army chick--but you'd promote the Sarah Brown character from Sargeant to Major, and make her part of the Salvation Army's top secret Special Forces. She's a commando assasin, see, and she goes along with Sky on the midnight trip to Cuba only so she can assasinate Hugo...

The Great Walk-Off: Rachel Versus Penny
I wound up on the entertainment pages of The Daily Mail this morning (and I'm a better person for knowing Nigella Lawson is comfortable with being fat. That was the paper's lead story on their main page. I wonder if this is what Lord Rothermere had in mind?). They have a poll today surveying one of today's...
This would be far more interesting to me if I had ever heard of Nigella Lawson or Penny Lancaster. Or even why Rachel Hunter is famous.
Hey, Rachel Hunter has done some marvelous work in shampoo commercials. Don't knock her innate talents.
As for why Rachel Hunter is famous, I don't remember who, but someone said there was some point in the 20th century when people stopped being famous for SOMETHING and started being famous simply FOR BEING FAMOUS.

Brosnan Back as Bond?
Who knew...So Pierce Brosnan may be back in as Bond. A new report suggests that Brosnan may have just been bluffing when he backed out of the 007 series earlier this year. Brosnan apparently wasn’t too pleased with the financial offer MGM was making. We’ll keep an eye on this story as it develops, because as bad as Brosnan is, we still don’t want the role going to Orlando Bloom or Clive Owen … for reasons I hope I don’t need to articulate.

Political Rift Drives Jen and Brad Apart-for Good
Jennifer Aniston filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on Friday, ending months of speculation that the two were on the verge of healing the political differences that pushed them apart back in January. Ms. Aniston's divorce petition, filed in California Superior Court, cited irreconcilable differences.
It has finally come to fruition. I have always sensed Jennifer Aniston is a self-involved, arrogant, witless little "girl". Brad Pitt, on the other hand, has a compassionate sense for the average "Joe/Jane Black". He is not egotistical. Most certainly, Mr. Pitt deserves a woman with far more integrity and empathy for people. Imo, Brad would make a marvelous parent - something the not-so-great self-serving Aniston doesn't care to consider. Only SHE counts. (Yeah, right...) A spiritually evolved person would be able to connect with the pain...
Hey, I always liked Jennifer Aniston....She is bright and gorgeous. I like her even more now. I am her age...maybe she needs a regular guy like me? haha.
Jennifer Aniston is an airhead who does what she is told. Moneymakers told her she can make more money without Brad Pitt. She does what they told her because she is an airhead. Anyone can tell her what to do.

Brad Pitt Buys Rights to Infernal Affairs
I grabbed a couple of (non-pirate) DVDs in Hong Kong which I've been watching this week. Last night was Infernal Affairs and Infernal Affairs II. It starts like a typical Hong Kong movie / rock video with faces shown so fast you don't know who is who, but then it gets into a rather complicated story. Infernal Affairs needs to be seen by any fan of cop and mafia films--it's really quite complicated and very interesting. The rights to both have been bought by Brad Pitt and he is preparing a remake for the US audiences.

Another Blogger Review of Troy
I watched Troy last night. I wasn’t expecting much but it was OK. Not great just OK. I’ve had too much classical education because I spent most of the movie comparing it with the real version. Copious amounts of Brad Pitt but he wasn’t that appealing. Dirty, sweaty and stringy haired but not the least bit attractive. So what is the deal with American actors putting on a British accent for movies like this? KP thinks maybe they adopt an accent when doing very *serious* movies. Its weird...

Million Dollar Moment!
The party was a lot of fun (see Musings 1, “Hey Where Am I?” tour) and she was very nice and a pleasure to meet. It’s always fun to meet someone and then see them in a movie. Had I not met Hilary Swank then I would have definitely thought she would be LARGE and have a punch like a Mac Truck! Same with meeting Raquel Welch, I thought she would be like 6 feet tall but in real life… life size is life size. Very cool.

Brooke Burke Burger King Ads
What is up with those weird BK commercials? First there's Hootie in a cowboy hat and Brooke Burke swinging like some Garden of Eden Eve, and then there this even weirder commercial where the burger "king" shows up outside this guy's window and gives him a huge omelette sandwich. It's really weird, almost creepy.

Movie Review: Troy Panned
Starring: Brad Pitt's butt and chiseled abs, Legolas, Boromir, Peter O'Toole (who should have known better), 300 Hungarians and 500 Mexicans (I watched some of the extras).
The acting was uniformly awful. Everyone over-acted as much as they could. They seemed to be trying to outdo themselves, like it was a contest. The only exception to this was Brad Pitt, who kept the same face on no matter what he was doing - killing people, screwing people, annoying people or dying (oops, did I give that away - sorry!).
The one exception to the above statement was Brad Pitt as Achilles. Of course, everyone knows the legend of Achilles: can't be hurt, except in his heel. This is because some of his genes are divine (his mother, I think, was a god of some kind). This fact is not mentioned in the movie. In fact, Achilles is introduced as some great fighter, and no one explains why he is so good. Or that he is invulnerable. The first time in the movie that any actual weapon touches him is when a dumb arrow smacks him in the heel (of course, Legolas fires it: couldn't they have given him some other weapon? We already have seen him shoot arrows for three movies). This sort of misses the whole invulnerable point, I thought. I mean, no one really knows (according to the movie) that he's invulnerable, since no one every really gets a swing at him. Again, this sort of removes any "divineness" of the whole thing.
In sum: do not watch this movie unless you are completely desperate (and drunk), are in love with Brad Pitt (who is really, really hot in this), or need an example of how to most efficiently piss away $100million (or whatever the budget was on this).

Johnnie Depp To Play In Sequel
More trivia: Rodriguez has said he plans to direct all of Miller's Sin City stories, and Johnny Depp was originally to play Wallace from To Hell and Back. Rodriguez now plans it as a sequel. Depp playing hard-boiled. Sounds like fun.
