Brook Burke Eats at Burger King?
And I didn't realize that was Brooke Burke at the end of the ad, either. Show of hands here - who thinks Brooke Burke has ever eaten at Burger King in her life? Yeah, me neither.
Brooke Burke might have had a salad there once. She also might like the new Enormous Omelet (more information at: http://www.bk.com/). You never know. :-)

Collateral
Tom Cruise plays the bad guy. He’s got grey hair. It doesn’t feel right somehow. Tom Cruise is some badass mofo who hails a cab to drive round LA doing a bunch of naughty deeds. Jamie Foxx is the innocent victim cabbie, who’s a bit thick but secretly lovable and strong and assertive when he needs to be (right at the end of the film, noless).
I thought Collateral was ok, nothing more though. The acting was good (especially from Jamie Foxx) and I suppose it had an original storyline but it wasn’t anything groundbreakingly spectacular, nor was it a film I’d sit through again. And I agree, Tom Cruise with the grey hair playing the bad guy didn’t feel right!

Culture Wars
Even if Salma Hayek were not in it, one of my recent favorite movies is Robert Rodriguez's Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Now Rodriguez is coming out with an ultra-violent, highly stylized movie, based on Frank Miller's graphic novels, called Sin City. Even if Jessica Alba were not...

Kingdom of Heaven
The trailer for the new Ridley Scott film is impressive (he directed Gladiator, apparently). For one thing, Orlando Bloom has returned to has sword/armour niche and that is a good thing. But I expect it is too much to hope a film addressing the Crusades will do so in anything like an even-handed fashion.

Million Dollar Baby - Blogger View
Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) started working when she was 13, for nearly 30 years she had been on her own, working as a waitress, eating customer leftovers, saving up her money and looking for the purpose of her life. When she was 31 she decided to take a chance in boxing, and she fought her way through and gave everything she had. However she was beaten by her own luck, a tragic injury that she could never recover from. What was the first thing she said? “Tell Frankie that I am sorry, I should’ve protect myself, I shouldn’t have turn”

Collateral
Michael Mann's Collateral is a film of many small virtues, notably its modesty. For a Tom Cruise vehicle, it's surprisingly free of affectation. Cruise's own performance as the heavy is quite disciplined -- despite the character's built-in potential for over-the-top hamminess. Cruise also deserves praise for making room for Jamie Foxx's fine turn as the reluctant, didn't-know-he-had-it-in-him hero. (If it had been up to me, Foxx would have won the Best Supporting...

The Luckiest (and least talented) Man in Show Business
About 10 years ago 2 kids from Boston rose up from their alleged average joe lifestyles and took Hollywood by storm with the movie "Good Will Hunting". Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, testaments to the American Dream, proof that if you have talent and drive, you can do anything in this great country. Yeah right, it is a testament to the fact that hard work and talent have nothing to do with success while luck has everything to do with it. I truly believe that Ben Affleck is the worst actor maybe ever to grace major motion pictures. It is a veritable kick in the nuts every time I think about the fact that this no talent ass clown is a multimillionaire and a sign of what is desired in modern artistic expression.
"Everyone who said Ben Affleck couldn't do worse than "Gigli" was lying to themselves. He's killed patriotism in "Pearl Harbor," science fiction in "Phantoms," and even sexual freedom in "Chasing Amy.""
This is not even his complete body of work as there are many more "hits" to ad to this list. Any movie that happened to be good that included him did so irrespective of his complete lack of talent. Matt Damon on the other hand is an excellent actor and the true mind behind Good Will Hunting. Had they never met, Ben Affleck would be home jerking off to pictures of Jennifer Lopez rather then bending her over his sofa. Affleck rode his buddy's coattails to the top, and as soon as they went their separate ways he went straight down hill, the sad things is we still pay him millions.
Truth be told, Ben Affleck has excelled in his career and reached a pinnacle that very few ever get to reach. He is in a position to transmit artistic expression to millions of people at any given time, and he is bad at what he does. Talent and hard work have nothing to do with success, it is all luck, and deep down Ben knows this as well.

Bloom as Bond?
Dark Horizons.net is reporting that a move is afoot to cast “British hunk” Orlando Bloom as a young James Bond, in order to kick-start a new franchise based on the exploits of a more youthful 007. This from Sky News:
Sky Movies reports the British hunk is in serious talks about a series of films based on an idea by a new author about the early life of the MI6 agent. Bloom says “I love the idea, in principle, as he can be far more adventurous and do more stunts. This is as near as I think I will get to playing the grown up James for the next 20 years.”

Vince, Give It a Rest
There's no guessing game to be played when talking about Vince Vaughn's romantic attraction to Hollywood starlett Jennifer Aniston. At a recent premiere for the movie The Ring Two, Vaughn was seen snuggling up to Aniston at a corner booth. With the not-so-chummy couple were Vaughn friends Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson. The Pitt-free Aniston was obvious in her lack of interest for Vaughn, which caused the bloated-actor to down three shots in five seconds, eat an entire mini-pizza on his own, and turn his attentions toward a Rosie O'Donnell look-alike, with whom he left the party soon after. All we can say to Vince is -- be careful!Paul Davidson is the source of the best gossip in Hollywood, bar none. Check out his blog!

So I was just listening to the radio, and this song "Rich Girl" comes on by Gwen Stefani. It has one of those heavy one note catchy bass lines that is present in almost every song on G105 today. Ben Affleck, Box Office Poison
Q: Ok, so your movie question is how do you take one of the most successful movie franchises, one of the most anticipated films and kill that project?
A: Well, if you have been following, you already know the answer is to cast Ben Affleck. Yet, that is what looks to be happening. Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck have been buddies since back in their save the earth from a big ol meteor days and have been looking for a film to do together. A supposed second Jack Ryan movie was even talked about, but it never work out, so when studios asked Mr. Willis for casting ideas for his son in this movie, guess who’s name came up. Fast forward, we are in negotiations.

More on Jamie Foxx in Ray
supporting actors were pretty strong as well. one point of the story that wasn't clear was when his friend turned band manager started ripping him off. was it before or after the introduction of the announcer turned adviser to the group? if it was after, then the friend turned band manager's behavior may be more acceptable. favorite line from the movie: "scratch a liar, find a thief"Maybe that's just overanalyzing a bit...

Jamie Foxx as Ray
Jamie Foxx did a great job of acting in this movie. It was a fascinating look at the recording industry over the years through the life of this innovating artist. It doesn't gloss over Ray's many faults, but it does pay tribute to the man's unique genius. It was fun to see how his art progressed along with the history of this country and it's pop culture in the last half of the century. The soundtrack is awsome as is the cinematography.

Vin Does D&D?
I like Vin Diesel... in action films. He does make for a good guy flick (ie: little plot, lots of shooting and explosions, tough-guy main character). But he seems a little more complicated than that. Someone recently pointed out to me (and Wikipedia confirms) that he is a huge D&D player, and isn't afraid to admit it. Seeming as how one of his characters was named Melkor I also wonder how much Tolkien mythology he knows.I actually don't think we'll see him as governor any time soon.

This Week's DVDs
Finding a good screen version of "Peter Pan" is harder than finding Neverland, at least in this weepie about the friendship between author James Barrie (Johnny Depp) and a dying mother (Kate Winslet) and her children. Not even Depp's charming Scottish burr can save the film when director Marc Foster refuses to let viewers use their imagination. No, Foster insists on showing us Neverland, which immediately looks silly instead of enchanting.

And Alicia Keys and, representing the guys, Kanye West worked white during onstage appearances at the Grammys on Feb. 13.

Stand-up Grier blazes his own creative path
Grier is an uninhibited performer, moving easily from character to character to illustrate a story. His former sketchmates Jamie Foxx and Jim Carrey may get more attention as first-rate mimics and physical comedians, but Grier is every bit their match. His entire being changes with the shift of an eyebrow, and he doesn't even try to rein in the voices anymore. There is no filter -- his thoughts pour directly into the audience. Grier says he just feels blessed that so many people find him funny.

New on video
Johnny Depp plays J. M. Barrie, the author of "Peter Pan," who finds inspiration through a widow (Kate Winslet) and her four young boys. Barrie is married at the time, and both his wife and the widow's mother sharply question his obsession with the other family, but he is seized in a kind of innocent asexual rapture, and they inspire him to write the classic play. His behavior would seem much different today, but in context, and given the quiet, inward strength of Depp's performance, we understand the odd workings of his inspiration. With Dustin Hoffman droll as the impresario. Rated PG. (Roger Ebert)

This week s top 5 must-see DVDs
1. Finding Neverland: Johnny Depp plays playwright J.M. Barrie, who found inspiration for writing "Peter Pan" during the carefree playtime he spent with the four young sons of Sylvia Davies (Kate Winslet). The characters float between the real world and a make-believe one that challenges adult sensibility and respectability, which are personified by Barrie's jealous wife and Davies' stuffy mother. Strong performances make this movie a must-see.

'Scoop' on Walls: She feared revealing her past poverty
Will Smith is a total charmer, as is Martin Sheen. And Tom Hanks -- if every celebrity was as nice as Tom Hanks, I'd be out of business. Harrison Ford is great on the screen, but he is one of the most unpleasant interviews in the world. He is startlingly inarticulate, and he is not as hunky as he is on the screen. He is small and fleshy and has nothing to say.

FILM CLIPS
Godard and his colleague and sometimes rival Franois Truffaut drew from the same caldron of exuberantly youthful French actors. The idea of trading cast members would inspire George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola's use of Harrison Ford, Robert Duvall and Cindy Williams in their early movies.

NEW DVD RELEASES: Incredible extras, outtakes
We get a lot of inside poop, too, like hearing about some of the actors considered for various voices (George Clooney and Harrison Ford were early candidates for Mr. Incredible, a role that went to Craig T. Nelson). A blooper reel catalogs actual mistakes made during the production -- with a hilarious laugh-track accompaniment -- instead of the usual cartoon-characters-screwing-up-gags bit. There are also interviews, if they can be called that, with the animated cast conducted by TV entertainment show journalists.

Fresh cut
After fawning over former fiance Ben Affleck on 2002’s “This is Me ...Then,” Jennifer Lopez wisely keeps her love life out of the spotlight on her aptly titled fourth disc, “Rebirth.” She only alludes to her secretive marriage to salsa king Marc Anthony on a few tracks, most prominently the breezy, Rodney Jerkins’ penned-and-produced “I Got U,” where she coos: “Sometimes real love can be not seen ’cause you’re thinking what’s right in front of you can’t be the one for you.”
